Cancer Risk Assessment & Prevention
The Cancer Risk Assessment & Prevention Program was developed for individuals who have concerns for developing breast, gastrointestinal and ovarian cancers. The program offers a comprehensive evaluation of cancer risk, discussion of available clinical trials and recommendations for care.
Medical oncologists, surgeons specializing in breast, gastrointestinal and ovarian cancers and a genetic counselor specially trained in cancer genetics will provide individualized family history analysis, risk assessment, counseling and screening recommendations and discuss enrollment in clinical trials focused on cancer prevention.
By knowing your risk, the right measures can be taken to reduce it. Not only will you receive the education and counseling you need, you'll have access to clinical trials at Loyola University Health System (Loyola).

You may be at risk if you fall into one of these categories:
- Women with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer
- Women who have had abnormal biopsies or have increased breast density
- Women who have had prior radiation therapy at an early age
- Men and women with a known genetic mutation in the family
- Men and women with a family history of early onset of colorectal cancer
- Men and women with a family history of ovarian, small bowel or stomach cancer
- Men and women with inflammatory bowel disease
