Orthopaedic Trauma

Loyola University Hospital is designated by the state of Illinois as a Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients. As part of the highly sophisticated trauma team, the orthopaedic service includes fellowship-trained orthopaedic and trauma specialists with experience in orthopaedic trauma.

The orthopaedic trauma team has special expertise in treating the following injuries and injury-related problems:

Complex fractures of the pelvis
Fractures involving the spine
Fractures that don’t heal (nonunions)
Fractures that heal in a poor position (malunions)
Infections
Multiple traumatic injuries and fractures
Open fractures
Reconstruction of severely injured joints and bones
Severe upper and lower extremity fractures
