The Loyola University Health System Pediatric Endocrinology Section provides consultation and comprehensive care for patients ages 0 - 18. This includes management of diabetes and any endocrine disorders and diseases that have hormonal disturbances.
The Pediatric Endocrinology Program provides diagnosis and management for these conditions:
- Diabetes
- Thyroid gland disease
- Hypothalamic-Pituitary disease
- Adrenal Gland disorders
- Disorders of puberty
- Disorders of water and electrolyte disturbances
- Calcium and bone disorders
- Growth disorders
Our service consists of a board certified specialist in Pediatric Endocrinology, and a manager/nurse endocrine/diabetes specialist that is also a CDE (certified diabetes educator) .
We receive referrals from pediatricians, family physicians and other specialists and provide them with prompt detailed information. We work closely with families and with school nurses in providing optimal health for our patients with diabetes and other conditions in the school setting.
We provide many health education talks in the community at schools and community events and educational sessions for health care providers in learning the modern skills in diabetes and other hormonal disturbances.
