Sports Medicine
Rooting for your child and his or her team — no matter the sport — is one of the true joys of parenthood. While sports injuries can often be prevented, they can and do happen. The Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Program at the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola provides evaluation and treatment for children with sports-related injuries or medical problems, including:
- Ankle sprains
- Concussions
- Exercise-induced asthma (bronchospasm)
- “Gymnast’s wrist”
- Jumper’s knee
- “Little league elbow”
- Osgood-Schlatter disease
- Shin splints
- Swimmer’s shoulder
- Stress fractures
Our team includes two orthopaedic surgeons, a pediatrician and family physicians all trained in the care of pediatric and adolescent sports medicine. We also work with physical therapists and trainers who focus on the care of young athletes.
