Therapy Services

If your child has lost muscular strength, coordination or function due to an illness or injury, the Rehabilitation Medicine program at the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center is the place to start. We work with children to help restore their ability to perform normal, everyday activities, from brushing teeth to playing sports. We also are highly experienced in treating children with disabling, chronic conditions such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Brain or spinal cord injury
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Chronic pain
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Spina bifida
  • Spasticity

In addition to therapeutic exercise and prescriptions, we offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and biofeedback. We can recommend braces, wheelchairs and other equipment for children with physical disabilities. We also administer and prescribe medications for spasticity management and provide individual bowel management programs for children with continence problems. Our multidisciplinary staff is committed to improve the quality of life of children, and to make everyday activities easier for families.
