Dr. Jae Sung Cho Named Chief of Vascular Surgery at Loyola

MAYWOOD, Ill. - Jae Sung Cho, MD, FACS, a nationally known expert in the treatment of vascular disease, has been named chief of vascular surgery at Loyola University Medical Center.

Cho comes to Loyola from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where he was chief of vascular surgery at UPMC Mercy and a professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

"Dr. Cho is a nationally recognized authority and innovator in minimally invasive approaches to vascular disease, especially of the thoracic and abdominal aorta," said Paul C. Kuo, MD, MBA, FACS, chair of Loyola's Department of Surgery. "He has a track record as a practice builder among several hospitals in the UPMC system, and has won multiple teaching awards."

Among his teaching awards is the 2011 Henry T. Bahnson Teacher of the Year Award in Vascular Surgery, awarded to the best teacher in the division of vascular surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

Cho earned his BS and MD degrees from the University of California at Irvine. He completed a residency in general surgery and a research fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York state. He completed a research fellowship and clinical fellowship in vascular surgery at Mayo Clinic and a mini fellowship in endovascular surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board certified in surgery and vascular surgery.
Cho is fluent in Korean.
