Loyola Sponsors Symposium on How to Reduce Cardiovascular Disease Risks

MAYWOOD, Ill. -- On July 14, nationally renowned cardiovascular disease specialists will discuss the latest findings on how doctors and nurses can help their patients lower their risks of cardiac-related diseases.

Topics include clinical application of advanced lipid testing; bariatric surgery and weight loss; cardiovascular disease prevention; preventive cardiology update in women; current treatment of low HDL cholesterol; optimal diets for cardiovascular health; high-dose statin therapy; inflammation and cardiovascular risk; and subclinical atherosclerosis imaging.

Loyola speakers will be Bipan Chand, MD; Ivan Pacold, MD; and Binh An P. Phan, MD. Speakers from other centers will be Vera Bittner, MD, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Michael Davidson, MD, University of Chicago; Paul Ridker, MD, Harvard Medical School; James Stein, MD, University of Wisconsin; and Peter Toth, MD, PhD, University of Illinois.

The all-day symposium will be held at the Fred Turner Training Center on the McDonald's Campus in Oak Brook. The symposium is targeted toward primary-care providers and other allied health providers who treat patients at risk of heart disease or patients who already have heart disease.
