Orthopaedic Trauma
Loyola Hospital is designated by the state of Illinois as a Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients. As part of the highly sophisticated trauma team, the orthopaedic service includes fellowship-trained orthopaedic and trauma specialists with experience in orthopaedic trauma.
The orthopaedic trauma team has special expertise in treating the following injuries and injury-related problems:
- Complex fractures of the pelvis
- Fractures involving the spine
- Fractures that don’t heal (nonunions)
- Fractures that heal in a poor position (malunions)
- Infections
- Multiple traumatic injuries and fractures
- Open fractures
- Reconstruction of severely injured joints and bones
- Severe upper and lower extremity fractures
