Telemedicine Stroke Program
Through Loyola’s Telemedicine Stroke Program, remotely controlled robotic systems allow our stroke experts to help patients who are in another hospital or even in another city. These telepresence tools – including our two “stroke robot” models – use a microphone and a full-color, high-definition camera that instantly transmits test results and images such as CT scans through a secure Internet connection. A Loyola stroke specialist can consult with another physician over the Internet, and allow a doctor to talk directly to a patient or a patient's family. This technology allows our doctors to offer their expert medical care and specialty advice to patients anytime, anywhere.
Our physicians in neurosciences and pediatrics have years of experience with telemedicine technologies and are nationally recognized leaders in the field. These tools provide access to academic medical care with reduced wait times and travel – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
