Dr. Cynthia Brincat, a Gynecologic surgeon, with WJOL radio
Loyola gynecologic surgeon Dr. Cynthia Brincat sat down with WJOL radio talked about her team, how she cares for her patients and why she's returned to work at LUHS.
Her field, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, treats birth injuries, incontinence, pelvic pain and prolapse. She says tears and other birth injuries are much more common than many people think and new mothers often don't do anything to get help for themselves.
Looking to the future, Dr. Brincat discussed new research into predictors and preventive measures for birth injuries. In terms of prevention, she said core body strength, pilates exercises and kegels can help a pregnant woman avoid having a tear or injury during childbirth.
