Dr. P. Marco Fisichella, a Loyola gastrointestinal surgeon, with WJOL radio
Dr. P. Marco Fisichella, a gastrointestinal surgeon and medical director of Loyola's Swallowing Center, explains how he was interested in minimally invasive surgery and pursued a fellowship for training in this approach.
He is now very experienced with this form of surgery. It reduces the length of the patient's hospital stay and limits scarring.
He says that anyone can experience a hernia, men, women and even children. He said risk factors for hernias include liver problems, constipation, excessive abdominal straining and prostate problems.
