Dr. Sarker discusses the lifelong commitment of weight-loss surgery
Dr. Sharfi Sarker, a Loyola surgeon who specializes in gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery, talks about weight-loss surgery. These operations often can be done with a minimally invasive approach.
In the video, she talks about how weight-loss surgery is a lifelong commitment and patients must be sure to follow their doctors' instructions afterward. Physicians will always first guide patients toward nonsurgical weight loss, such as dieting, exercise and lifestyle changes. She also talks about how important patient follow-up is for successful weight loss. Even after you lose weight, it is important to develop good exercise and diet habits to keepthe weight from returning.
