Loyola enters clinical affiliation with Porter Regional Hospital
Arrangement will expand access in Northwest Indiana to Loyolas Academic Clinical Care and Research
Loyola University Health System in Maywood, Ill., has entered into a clinical affiliation agreement with Porter Regional Hospital in Northwest Indiana. The affiliation will complement the quality care that patients receive at Porter Regional Hospital by expanding access to academic research and clinical care in Northwest Indiana.
Porter Health Care System CEO Jonathan Nalli said, “We are increasing the depth of our clinical services through this affiliation. Both Porter Regional Hospital and Loyola University Health System are committed to furthering access to medical resources and patient-centered care."
Loyola President and CEO Larry M. Goldberg said the affiliation will further Loyola’s mission of broadening access to its medical services. “Now, patients from Northwest Indiana can retain the comforts and convenience of their home hospital, while benefiting from Loyola specialists and gaining access to our leading-edge clinical trials."
One of the first areas to see the benefits of this affiliation will be Porter Regional Hospital’s new Cancer Care Center. According to Nalli, Porter’s cancer patients will have access to clinical trials conducted by Loyola faculty close to home.
Additionally, the affiliation will enhance the ability of Porter’s new Neuroscience Center to provide stroke care in the community, when every minute counts.
Loyola has been named to a list of “100 Great Hospitals” by Becker’s Hospital Review and the cancer program has received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons. The American Stroke Association has awarded Loyola its Gold Performance Achievement Award for implementing a higher standard of stroke care, and Loyola is certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Porter Health Care System has two hospital campuses and seven outpatient facilities serving Porter, Lake, LaPorte, Starke, Newton and Jasper counties. With more than 350 physicians representing 50 medical specialties on the medical staff, Porter Health Care System is a leader in technology and overall patient care.
