About 90 physicians, nurses, staff, patients and families from the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital® of Loyola University Medical Center will walk Sept. 8 to help battle childhood cancer. This year’s Ronald’s Heroes team has more than doubled the number of walkers who will be participating in the CureSearch Walk for Children’s Cancer.
“Unfortunately childhood cancer is becoming more prevalent and more and more families are being touched by this devastating disease,” said Megan Gertz, director of child life at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital® of Loyola University Medical Center. “We walk to support them in their fight by raising funds for pediatric cancer research."
The day kicks off with registration at 8:30 a.m. on the Great Lawn across from Soldier Field. The opening ceremony is at 10 a.m. followed by a 3.5-mile walk to raise funds for life-saving search.
The money raised from the event goes to Children’s Oncology Group hospitals that conduct pediatric cancer research, including Loyola University Health System.
