Loyola Expands Hepatology Services to Chicago's Chinatown Neighborhood

MAYWOOD, Ill. - Loyola University Health System (LUHS) has expanded hepatology services, with physicians now available at the new Loyola Hepatology Clinic in the Chinatown neighborhood of Chicago.

Scott Cotler, MD, professor of medicine and division director of Hepatology, now sees patients at Loyola Hepatology Clinic, 2335-B S. Wentworth Ave.

"Patients in Chicago can now receive comprehensive liver-care services from a Loyola liver specialist without having to travel to the suburbs," said Larry Goldberg, president and CEO, LUHS. “Loyola has a national reputation for specialized care and we are pleased to offer clinics throughout Illinois."

Dr. Cotler specializes in the management of cirrhosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, liver cancer and other causes of chronic liver disease. Renowned for his clinical translational research in liver disease, Dr. Cotler has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. He has established a statewide liver-referral system for transplantation. In addition to the Chinatown office, Loyola offers specialists in liver care in Moline, Peoria, Rockford, Burr Ridge, Homer Glen and Maywood as well as in the Dearborn Station building in the Loop.

Dr. Cotler received his medical degree from University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Rush University Medical Center and another fellowship in hepatology at the University of Washington Medical Center. He served as chief of the section of Hepatology at University of Illinois Medical Center and professor of medicine at UIC.

Dr. Cotler is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.
