
Maywood, IL - - -Loyola Medicine has announced the appointment of Neil Gupta, MD, MPH, FASGE, as chief medical officer of its Medical Group and Provider Services. Loyola Medicine’s academic health system includes Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and MacNeal Hospital.
Dr. Gupta joined Loyola Medicine in 2012 and serves as the regional director of the Loyola Medicine digestive health program. During his tenure, he has led the program to earn four consecutive top 50 U.S. News & World Report rankings with the highest ranking of 21st in the country in 2020. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine. He earned a Master's in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago in public health informatics, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Gupta has clinical and research interests in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, malignant and pre-malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and improving the quality of endoscopy. He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals, presented over 300 abstracts at national medical conferences, and written chapters for several medical textbooks. He teaches physicians how to perform complex endoscopy procedures at courses throughout the country and internationally. Dr. Gupta currently serves on committees for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
