About Our Ratings
The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to care provider-related questions on the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey.
Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating.
At Loyola Medicine, we believe that patients should be able to make informed choices when selecting their healthcare providers. We support transparency so that our patients can learn about our providers and the care we deliver. We measure patient satisfaction with a survey sent to our patients by an independent patient satisfaction company named Press Ganey. For more than 30 years, Press Ganey has been an industry leader in improving the quality, safety and patient care experience across more than 26,000 healthcare facilities.
Who Receives the Survey?
Press Ganey sends the survey to our patients within a few days of their discharge from our hospital. The survey features 20 questions and seeks comments regarding specific aspects of care. We use this feedback to improve how we deliver care and treat our patients. Our goal is to deliver exceptional care to each and every patient.
Why aren’t there patient ratings and comments for every provider?
In order to provide the most accurate and useful information on our providers, we only post satisfaction data when a provider has received a minimum of 30 survey responses. Providers who conduct research, have administrative responsibilities or practice in select specialties such as radiology and pathology may not meet the minimum qualifications to receive a rating.
Can anyone complete a survey or post a comment about a provider?
No. Only patients seen by a Loyola Medicine physician or nurse practitioner receive a survey. This way, the survey results and comments are based entirely from patients who have actually been treated by the provider.
How many patients respond to these surveys?
Each year, more than 40,000 Loyola Medicine patients provide feedback about their experience through the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey.
