Comprehensive Educational Class for First-Time Parents

Loyola Medicine is committed to your postpartum care and education, including the care of your baby after you return home. This is such a happy event, but we understand that as new parents you are likely to have moments of uncertainty. For that reason, we offer this class to explore a wide range of issues faced by new parents.

Our infant care class, which is designed for first-time parents, will cover many child care topics, including:

  • Baby growth and development
  • Baby sleep patterns
  • Bathing
  • Common child care problems
  • Crying
  • Diapering
  • Feeding
  • Maternity leave and returning to work
  • Safety issues, such as car seats
  • Signs of Illness
  • When to call a doctor

This class is led by a childbirth educator. A pediatrician may be available to answer questions and give an overview of key topics such as immunizations, choosing a pediatrician and what to expect from your baby’s doctor.

This 90-minute class is recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy.
