Home Care & Hospice - Center for

The Center for Home Care & Hospice of Loyola University Health System (Loyola) is a Medicare-certified Illinois Department of Public Health-licensed home care and hospice. The programs also are accredited by the Joint Commission.

Home Care

The Home Care program provides intermittent care to homebound patients.

Services Include:

  • Skilled nursing
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech/language pathology
  • Medical social services
  • Nutritional services
  • Home health aide
  • Cardiac nursing


Home Infusion

The Home Infusion program provides infusion therapy products and high-tech home care nursing services to adult and pediatric patients.

Services Include:

  • Placement of PIC, midline and other venous access devices
  • Nursing services for patient/family education
  • Nursing services for the delivery of high-tech therapies

Therapies Provided:

  • Antibiotics/antivirals/antifungals
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hemotherapy--packed cells, platelets, etc.
  • TPN
  • Growth cell factors
  • Hydration
  • Enteral
  • Pain management
  • Gamma globulin products
  • Chelation therapy


Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Home Care

A Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Home Care program provides skilled and high-tech nursing services to BMT patients pre-and post-transplant allowing patients to be cared for in their homes, reducing hospital length of stay and increasing patient comfort. Care is provided by a team of highly skilled, BMT cross-trained nurses.

Pediatric Home Care

The Pediatric Home Care program, a component of the Ronald McDonald® Children's Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center, provides home care services to the pediatric population. A special Neonatal Care program facilitates the early discharge of neonates from neonatal intensive care units (NICU) or other areas. Care is provided by NICU nurses trained in home care.

Hospice

The Hospice program provides hospice services to adult and pediatric patients.

  • Bereavement services
  • Volunteer services
  • Dietary consultation


Care is provided in the patient's home, with inpatient care for symptom control and pain management provided at Loyola University Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center. Respite care is provided at skilled nursing facilities/long term care facilities in the community.
