MAYWOOD, IL – Free mammograms and Pap tests will be offered at Loyola Medicine to qualifying uninsured women on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
The 2018 See, Test and Treat® event will be held at the Loyola Outpatient Center, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, IL. Advance registration is required and the number of appointments is limited. Women ages 30 to 64 interested in participating are invited to call 888-584-7888 to verify eligibility and make an appointment.
"Early detection of breast and cervical cancers through regular screenings saves lives, so it is important for women, regardless of ability to pay, to receive care," said Eva M. Wojcik, MD, chair of Loyola's pathology department. "Thanks to this event, many women who do not regularly see a physician will receive these important health tests."
Dr. Wojcik and a team of 100 Loyola healthcare professionals will team up for the event. Qualified women who make an appointment will receive same-day results on a Pap test, a breast exam and a mammogram, for those whom the test is appropriate. If further treatment is needed, an immediate care plan is provided by doctors to affected patients.
Participants will also be given access to health education resources and the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with Loyola physicians and other healthcare experts.
Last year, 68 women received free breast and cervical screenings as part of the event.
Funded in part by a grant from the College of American Pathologists and the CAP Foundation, this is the fourth year Loyola Medicine has offered See, Test and Treat® free cancer screenings.
