MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola Medicine has announced the appointment of Shana Jo Crews as the new regional vice president of advocacy and government relations. Prior to joining Loyola Medicine, Shana worked as the government relations director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network in Illinois and Iowa. Shana is a graduate of the civic leadership program from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's and master's degrees in political science.
"Loyola Medicine is a compassionate and transformative healing presence within our communities," said Crews. "I am honored to join the team and dedicate our work to ensure we are the most trusted health partner for life."
The advocacy and government relations team at Loyola seeks to provide members of the community with the knowledge and resources they need to engage in meaningful health policy conversations. In fostering relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials, they advocate for public policies that result in improved healthcare throughout the community, especially underserved and vulnerable populations.
She has already demonstrated her dedication to vulnerable populations by helping secure access to treatment for a woman who faced serious health challenges after fleeing the war in Ukraine. Shana worked with federal officials to help the family navigate complex immigration and insurance issues and ensure the patient got the care she needed.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Crews to the Loyola community," said Shawn P. Vincent, president and CEO of Loyola Medicine. "Her dedication and leadership will be instrumental to our efforts to advocate for improved patient care."
