MAYWOOD, IL – Six Loyola Medicine nurses were accepted to the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders (IONL) Nurse Leader Fellowship. The program is dedicated to the development and support of managers and new directors from diverse practice environments throughout the state. The Loyola Medicine nurses who were selected are below:

  • Joy Westberg
  • Katherine Cram
  • Sonia Esparza
  • Pamela A. Skocir

"We are very proud of the nurse leaders at Loyola Medicine who were chosen for the Nurse Leader Fellowship," said Peggy Norton-Rosko, regional chief nursing officer for Loyola Medicine. "The knowledge and experience that they gain from the fellowship will be of great benefit to the nursing community throughout Loyola Medicine."

Fellowship candidates are nominated by a hospital's chief nursing officer and selected by the IONL. The fellowship runs throughout 2020 and gives participants the opportunity to work collaboratively with other nurse leaders and gain valuable skills to be leaders for change. Graduates will serve as mentors for future nurse leader fellows.

Loyola Medicine includes Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park and MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. Loyola University Medical Center received Magnet® re-designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for the third consecutive survey cycle in 2019.
