About
Meenakshi Chaku, MD, MS, is the Director of the Glaucoma Service in the Department of Ophthalmology. She is a Board Certified Glaucoma Specialist and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist with an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology appointment at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, transitioned from being on staff at Boston University.
Dr. Chaku received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and her masters and medical school degrees from Wayne State University School of Medicine.
She completed her Internship at Henry Ford Health System and her Ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University. She then completed her Glaucoma fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
Her interests include medical, laser, and surgical treatment for glaucoma and cataract surgery. Her research interests include advances in medical and surgical treatment for cataract and glaucoma as well as glaucoma patient education and screening.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Chicago Ophthalmological Society and Chicago Glaucoma Society.
