Infant Care Class
Comprehensive Educational Class for First-Time Parents
Loyola Medicine is committed to your postpartum care and education, including the care of your baby after you return home.
This is such a happy event, but we understand that as new parents you are likely to have moments of uncertainty. For that reason, we offer this class to explore a wide range of issues faced by new parents.
Our infant care class, which is designed for first-time parents, will cover many child care topics, including:
- Baby growth and development
- Baby sleep patterns
- Bathing
- Common child care problems
- Crying
- Diapering
- Feeding
- Maternity leave and returning to work
- Safety issues, such as car seats
- Signs of Illness
- When to call a doctor
This class is led by a childbirth educator. A pediatrician may be available to answer questions and give an overview of key topics such as immunizations, choosing a pediatrician and what to expect from your baby’s doctor.
This 90-minute class is recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy.
