Other Resources for Candidates
Here are some things our residents would like you to know as you consider Loyola for your Pathology training:
Resident Monica Aldulescu endorses living in Oak Park, IL:
"Many of the residents who work at Loyola University Medical Center live in Oak Park which is a great village with easy access to downtown Chicago, the neighboring suburbs, and LUMC. It's a vibrant community that is rich with history, restaurants, and shops; and being that it is only 10 miles from downtown Chicago and 2-3 miles from LUMC, it is great option for residents. Love Oak Park!"
Resident Oluwatobi "Tobi" Odetola would like you to know the following:
About the People:
"Moving to the United States for residency will always be a big step especially for someone that lived at home prior to the transatlantic journey. The amazing people, residents, fellows and faculty, at Loyola Pathology have provided immense support right from orientation to this day. The warmth I felt while interviewing at the program was not a façade"
About Academics:
"I have found the organ-system approach to learning Pathology in place at the program to be effective. To the receptive mind, the daily educational conferences and case sign-out sessions are very stimulating"
About the City:
"I consider food to be an integral component of my work-life and I have found the food on offer in Chicago to be mind-blowing. Since I moved here, Chicago’s deep dish pizza has found a zealous convert. I also enjoy the city’s love for its sports teams. I don’t do band wagons but Go Cubs Go!"
Resident Recep Nigdelioglu would like you to know the following:
"I am greatly thankful to be a member of the resident team at Loyola. Even on my first day in residency after seeing all residents and faculty members pronouncing my name perfectly (which never happened in the U.S ), this gave me huge evidence about the professionalism of my program and I felt that I was totally at right place. I have learned so much in three months from very nice, kind and dedicated people at Loyola including the students, technicians, residents, fellows and faculty. There is a great supportive environment, which keeps me motivated all the time so far. Our positive and negative feedbacks are taken very seriously. What really impressed me was how our needs were met rapidly after our monthly wellness meetings, such as our new coffee machine. I hope that I can work hard not to disappoint anybody, who gave me this opportunity to become a resident at Loyola."
