Loyola University Medical Center is a quaternary-care system with a 61-acre main medical center campus in the western suburbs of Chicago. The medical center campus is located in Maywood, 13 miles (21 km) west of the Chicago Loop and eight miles (13 km) east of Oak Brook, Illinois.

At the heart of the medical center campus is our main hospital, a 569-licensed-bed facility. The main hospital also houses a Level 1 Trauma Center and the Loyola Medicine Children's Hospital.

Also on the Loyola University Medical Center campus are the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Loyola Outpatient Center, William G. & Mary A. Ryan Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine and Oral Health Center.

Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine (named for Samuel Cardinal Stritch, a former Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago), Loyola University Chicago's Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and Loyola University Chicago's Loyola Center for Fitness are also located on the campus. The Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy is a part of the Stritch School of Medicine.

Loyola Medicine has been a member of Trinity Health since July of 2011.

Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is located 12 miles west of downtown Chicago on a 147-acre campus and offers primary, extended and specialty care and serves as a tertiary care referral center for VISN 12.

Specialized clinical programs include Blind Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury, Neurosurgery, Radiation Therapy and Cardiovascular Surgery. The hospital also serves as the VISN 12 southern tier hub for pathology, radiology, radiation therapy, human resource management and fiscal services.

Hines VA Hospital currently operates 471 beds and six community based outpatient clinics in Elgin, Kankakee, Oak Lawn, Aurora, LaSalle, and Joliet. Over 600,000 patient visits occurred in fiscal year 2010 providing care to over 54,000 veterans, primarily from Cook, DuPage and Will counties. In FY 2010 the budget for Hines was over $510 million.

Children’s Hospital is the largest network provider of pediatric services in Illinois and among the top 10 in the nation. Advocate Children’s Hospital serves as a major referral center for infants and children.

The hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s leaders in cardiology and heart surgery, and numerous physicians have been recognized as being among the Top Doctors regionally and nationally in their field.

The hospital is staffed by more than 400 pediatricians and 230 pediatric subspecialists, who offer a wide range of specialized services for children.
