Visiting Fourth Year Clerkship
We welcome visiting fourth year medical students on Loyola's Urology services. We utilize the AAMC’s Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) for applications.
Students are welcome to apply for more than one block in order to increase their chances of acceptance.

Department: Urology
Course Number: UROL-401
Course Title: Urology Sub-Internship
Supervisor: Kristin Baldea, MD
Duration: Four weeks
Periods Offered: Year-round
Prerequisite: Completion of General Surgery Clerkship. Available to third- and fourth-year students.
Description: This elective is intended for students interested in pursuing Urology as a potential career. The course will introduce the student to the basics of urologic disease, diagnostic approaches and the treatment of urologic problems. Emphasis will be placed on giving the student a working knowledge of common urologic problems in order to prepare them for a Urology residency.
Students will be integral in all aspects of the care of our Urology patients and will be directly supervised by the chief resident. Students will be instructed in the outpatient clinics, the inpatient wards, and in the operative room.
Students will participate in weekly departmental conferences, weekly teaching rounds, and will give an end of the rotation 10-minute presentation on a topic of their choice. The student is expected to participate at the level of a sub-intern. The student will meet with the Course Director about once per week for case conference.
Method of Evaluation: Evaluation will be on the basis of the student's overall participation on the service (Honors/High Pass/Pass/Fail).
