MAYWOOD, IL – Female athletes who play sports such as soccer and basketball that involve jumping and pivoting are 2 to 10 times more likely to suffer ACL knee injuries than males.
Many of these injuries could be prevented by conditioning and using proper landing techniques after jumping.
To reduce the risk of knee and other injuries in both girls and boys, Loyola Medicine is conducting a two-day Sports Injury Prevention Camp at Lockport Township High School for athletes ages 10 to 14.
The camp will be held from 8 am to noon on Friday, June 14, 2019 and Friday, June 21, 2019. Participants must attend both days. The cost for both days is $50.
The camp will be conducted by Loyola sports medicine and rehabilitation physicians and physical therapists. It will include:
- An individualized injury risk assessment
- An injury prevention program and exercises
- Education on proper hydration and nutrition and on how to prevent ACL injuries
The camp will be held in the Community Center, room 107 at Lockport Township High School, 1323 E. 7th St, Lockport, IL.
To register, call 708-531-7940.
