MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola Medicine's annual "Bedazzle Your Bra" event will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. The event honors breast cancer survivors and women currently undergoing treatment.

From 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm, an open studio will take place in the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center auditorium, 2160 S. First Avenue, Maywood, IL. In addition to bedazzling bras, the event will feature refreshments and performances by Gina & Kyle Unplugged featuring Gina Glocksen, former American Idol finalist. Attendees can also receive mini makeovers throughout the day.

The event was conceptualized by Loyola art therapist Beth Smith and certified mastectomy fitter Lisa VanderWall, RN, after working with a patient who decorates her bras. They work with local companies and designers for new bra donations, decorative materials and hats.

"Many of these women return year after year," Mrs. Smith said. "It's wonderful to see the bonds that have formed among them."

While the event is Bring-Your-Own-Bra, various sizes are available on a first come, first serve basis. All services at the event are complimentary. Those interested in attending can reserve a space by calling 708-327-2248.
