Loyola University Medical Center Named a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center+ in Spine Surgery

MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) has been recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center+ in Spine Surgery. The honor was given to 307 hospitals and medical centers throughout the U.S., including 22 in Illinois, in recognition of their “expertise and efficiency in delivering specialty care.”
“Loyola University Medical Center has a long tradition of providing exceptional, comprehensive musculoskeletal care, including spine surgery,” said Alexander Ghanayem, MD, chair of orthopaedics at Loyola. “We are honored to receive this distinction from Blue Cross Blue Shield.”
Blue Distinction Centers and Blue Distinction Centers+ “have a proven history of delivering exceptional care and results,” according to the Blue Cross Blue Shield website. Distinction Centers+ “demonstrate more affordable care in addition to quality care, treatment expertise and better overall patient results.”
Loyola also was recently named to Becker's Healthcare's 2019 list of 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Orthopaedic Programs. Hospitals on the list are recognized for "quality of care and patient satisfaction for orthopaedic and spine surgery."
