What Type of Women’s Support Services are Available?
Loyola offers support services and preventive healthcare for girls, young women and mature adult women. We offer the expertise of skilled clinicians to help you cope with a new diagnosis, prepare for the birth of a child, care for a family member or endure the loss of a loved one.
We offer a range of classes and support programs for the various needs of women at many stages of life:
- Breast cancer networking group — Breast cancer patients and their friends and family members are encouraged to attend these sessions, which provide information on every aspect of cancer survivorship.
- Caregiver support group — Caregivers share useful information and resources while discussing the challenges and rewards of caring for a loved one with a chronic condition.
- Chaplain services for obstetric health — Loyola’s obstetric health chaplains minister to women who are here for routine and high-risk pregnancies. Our chaplains often see patients who are adjusting to unanticipated pregnancy or delivery issues. They have vast experience in providing emotional support to mothers and families who are dealing with anxiety, loss of control, stress and changes in routine.
- Chaplain services for women’s health — Loyola’s chaplains understand that completely restoring the well-being of a woman coping with illness means addressing not only her condition, but also how it affects her family. Our women’s health chaplains serve as supportive companions, helping to create a space for spirituality with women as they cope with illness and the changes it may bring to the lives of those for whom she cares. Whether a patient is here for gynecologic, surgical or cancer treatments, a Loyola chaplain with skills and understanding specific to her condition is available to help the patient and her family seek healing of the body, mind and spirit.
- Childbirth preparation classes — For the benefit of our parents-to-be, Loyola offers classes and support to provide you with information, prepare you for childbirth and parenting, learn techniques to use during labor and help you make informed decisions. We offer a range of classes and support programs for the various needs of expectant parents, including classes on infant care, breastfeeding and Cesarean birth and vaginal birth.
- General journey toward healing support group — This group provides a space to share in grieving the loss of a loved one.
