How to Apply
Requirements
Applicants will need to successfully complete an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency prior to matriculation. They must be American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery eligible or certified in general surgery.
Fellowship applications will be accepted through the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS).
Minimal application contents for consideration include:
- Three letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
- ABSITE scores
- USMLE, COMLEX or ECFMG scores
All candidates must be registered through the National Resident Matching Program. The NRMP code for this program is 1170442F0.
In addition, the fellow must be able to obtain a permanent medical license in Illinois and be legally able to accept employment. For those requiring a visa to work, Loyola Medicine is able to accept J-1 visa sponsorship only.
Interview Process
Completed applications will be reviewed as they are received. Invitations to interview will be sent out on a rolling basis. Applications will be continued to be reviewed until September 1st.
Tentative interview dates will be announced in early April.
Interviews will be half-day sessions and held virtually this year.
Exceptional candidates assessed after these interview dates will be offered interviews on an individual basis.
