Program Testimonials

Wonder what former residents say about our program? Take a few moments to review some of their comments:

I'm very grateful for the time I spent at Loyola and I'm grateful for the superb training I received…it's stood me in stead throughout my career. The department has grown in spectacular fashion.

Mark S. Volk, MD, DMD
Department of Otology and Laryngology
Children's Hospital Boston
Harvard Medical School

I appreciated the camaraderie that was always so powerful between the residents. The operative experience at Loyola is unparalleled, both from the breadth of cases that are available and the teaching provided by the faculty. But, I think the thing that sets the program apart from others is its likeness to a family. The faculty is truly invested in the success of the residents, the residents work as a team and support each other. That is something that I really came to value as I looked for a job, and it is what eventually led me back to Loyola.

Amy L. Pittman, MD
Head and Neck Surgeon
Loyola Medicine

What I enjoyed the most about my residency was the amazing camaraderie that exists between the faculty and residents. This builds trust and friendship that boosts education in all facets. Residents at Loyola get a superb surgical and clinical experience that sets them up for further fellowship training or private practice.

As I reflect on my Loyola ENT residency training I am very grateful for the educational opportunities, conferences and surgical loupes the faculty provided to us as residents. I was very fortunate to attend national ENT pediatric meetings, AAOHNS meetings and skull base meetings. Some of the best times were alumni dinners where I had a chance to meet former graduates. You always had a hand in pulling those together and I appreciate that.

I feel that I received an excellent education and training while at Loyola.

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to each of my Loyola mentors. There are so many different ways that each formed me into the physician I am today, and my abilities are a direct result of the patience and guidance which Dr. Stankiewicz, Dr. Matz, Dr. Collins, Dr. Bastian, and Dr. Leonetti gave me. I learned how to be a good diagnostician and a good surgeon and I learned my limits in both areas.

Learning how to avoid complications is so critical to excellent care and I feel blessed to have been given such direction and example while at Loyola.

Creed Mamikunian, MD
Alaska Regional Hospital

My experience as a Loyola resident was both challenging and rewarding. The combination of strong mentorship and long hours taking care of patients helped me develop into the physician I am today. I am grateful for my experience as a resident, and I am honored to join this department as staff working with nationally recognized leaders in the field of Otolaryngology.

Matt Kircher, MD

Your guidance and encouragement, as well as that of the entire department, are remembered every day.
