May 7, 2018MAYWOOD, IL – For the fifth year in a row, Loyola University Medical Center has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review's list of "100 Great Hospitals in America."
Loyola's nationally ranked specialties, level 1 trauma center, transplant program, Burn Center and 20-bed unit for patients undergoing stem cell transplants were among the reasons listed for inclusion on the list. The "stellar reputation" of Loyola's orthopaedics program and a tenfold increase in total and partial shoulder replacements were also highlighted.
"We are proud of the patient-centered care we provide at Loyola and honored to be recognized as among the best hospitals in the country," said Chad Whelan, MD, president of Loyola University Medical Center.
Becker's said hospitals included in the new 2018 list "have been recognized nationally for excellence in clinical care, patient outcomes and staff and physician satisfaction. These institutions are industry leaders that have achieved advanced accreditation and certification in several specialties."
Becker's said its list also includes "industry innovators that have sparked trends in healthcare technology, hospital management and patient satisfaction."
Becker's selected hospitals based on an analysis of ranking and award agencies, including U.S. News & World Report's 2017-18 rankings, CMS star ratings, Leapfrog patient safety grades and Truven Health Analytics. Becker's also sought nominations for the list.
