Proviso School Program

Health Education and Screenings for Students at Proviso East High School

As part of our school outreach program, the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing has established an in-school clinic at Proviso East High School in our Maywood community.

The Proviso School-Based Health Center (SBHC) is staffed by Loyola faculty, nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, registered dietitians and a social worker who work as part of an integrated team with Loyola’s pediatricians, primary care providers and specialists.

For more than 10 years, Loyola’s clinicians working at the health center have offered Proviso East students:

  • Counseling
  • Immunizations
  • Medical screenings
  • Mental health education
  • Nutrition education
  • Physical exams
  • Primary care medical treatments
  • Sports physicals

Loyola also delivers school physicals and immunizations to elementary school students in School District 89 and provides health interventions and outreach to the Maywood community.

Why Choose Loyola for Teen Health Education and Services?

Loyola believes in providing not only healthcare services to our youth, but also education to inspire future healthcare providers.

Several programs offered by the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine give high school students at Proviso East and Proviso West real-world experience in healthcare and medical research, offering them a head start in pursuing careers in the medical field.
