Am I Eligible?

Loyola Medicine’s multidisciplinary team of weight loss experts is committed to helping you understand the many weight loss opportunities available to you in our program. Our medical weight loss program and bariatric surgery options are designed for anyone with medically significant weight loss problems.

In most cases, our experts utilize your BMI (body mass index) to help determine if you are viable candidate for our medical weight loss and surgical programs.

If you have a BMI of 40 or more, or if your BMI is 35 or more and you have other significant negative health issues, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, related to your weight you may be a candidate.

You may also be a candidate if you are more than 100 pounds over your ideal body weight or you are unable to reach your ideal body weight for a long period of time.

What is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from your weight and height. BMI can be used as an easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that could indicate long-term health problems.

Healthy, safe weight loss is unique to each individual, and requires a detailed plan specific to your needs.  At Loyola, we partner with you to determine your candidacy and develop the best weight loss plan for you.
