Clinician Educator Track

Our program offers a distinctive Clinical Educator Track led by Dr. Puri designed for senior residents with a passion for teaching and medical education. In the PGY-2 year, residents acquire foundational skills in bedside teaching, providing feedback, and teaching physical exams through an asynchronous learning model. They then have the opportunity to apply these skills on the general medicine wards and through small group teaching with medical students rotating at Loyola MacNeal Hospital. PGY-2 residents are also expected to create a brief teaching tool, such as a handout, to support their educational practice.

In the PGY-3 year, residents in the Clinical Educator Track can engage in more extensive, longitudinal projects, including developing curricula for interns and students. These projects are undertaken with guidance from experienced residency faculty, providing residents with a deeper involvement in the development of educational programs.
