Community Medicine

Our Community Medicine rotation, led by Dr. Dudani in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital and street medicine experts from Loyola, offers a distinctive and comprehensive experience, providing residents with valuable exposure to diverse patient populations. This rotation includes working with patients in respite care and collaborating with street medicine initiatives under the guidance of expert physicians.

Recent additions to the elective include hands-on experience in immigrant health clinics, allowing residents to address the unique healthcare needs of immigrant communities. Additionally, residents gain insights into the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, further enhancing their ability to provide compassionate and effective care to underserved populations.

This multifaceted elective equips residents with the skills and perspectives needed to excel in community-focused medicine and address a wide range of social determinants of health.

Residents will build relationships and foster a sense of trust with patients by connecting them to relevant social, legal, and medical resources. By doing so, Residents will reduce stigmas that are often seen against this unique population in the healthcare system. You will be expected to address inpatient Homeless Consults and participate in the outpatient clinics as well.
