How to Apply to the MacNeal Internal Medicine Residency

Thank you for your interest in our program! If you would like to apply for a residency position, please submit all required information through ERAS.

Interview Season Philosophy on Equity

Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is committed to fostering a diverse and equitable environment of excellence. We conduct application reviews blinded to photos to ensure impartiality and focus solely on the merits of each candidate's qualifications. Our interviewers undergo training to mitigate bias, ensuring fair and objective evaluations. In alignment with national recommendations, we avoid in-person visits of any kind during the application process, including “second looks.” We believe this provides all candidates with an equal opportunity regardless of their geographic or financial circumstances. We believe these practices strengthen our program and contribute to the development of outstanding physicians.

Program Signaling

For the 2025 ERAS® recruitment season residency applicants who are applying to participating programs can use program signals to show their interest. During our holistic review of applications, we preferentially review applications from those who signal our program, we also consider applicants who do not signal us. Signaling a program for which an applicant is deemed qualified may increase the likelihood of obtaining an interview offer from the program. Signaling a program for which an applicant is not deemed qualified is unlikely to increase the likelihood of obtaining an interview offer; i.e., a signal does not guarantee an interview.

Our Commitment to Diversity

Loyola Medicine Graduate Medical Education continues in our mission to develop and support a diverse physician work force to best meet the needs of the diverse communities to which we provide care. Diversity of our workforce includes, but is not limited to, diversity in age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, and all other protected statuses.

No decision on an applicant’s qualifications will ever be based solely on race or any protected class.
