What to Expect During Your Multidisciplinary Clinic Visit
Depending on which multidisciplinary clinic you visit, you will experience many of the following steps:
- Orientation and a meeting with medical oncologists, surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists and other members of your team is scheduled.
- A patient care conference made up of radiologists, pathologists, geneticists and research nurses to review your tests, imaging results, current physical health and family history is scheduled.
- An individualized plan for your clinical treatment is formulated.
- Treatment recommendations are shared in a meeting with you and your family. This specialized care is offered on the same day, in one location.
Depending on your specific case, your first appointment could last anywhere from two to five hours. Following your initial appointment, a Loyola cancer coordinator begins the process of scheduling you for your subsequent treatment and doctor visits.
