The experienced laboratory team at Loyola is known for the high quality and timely results we provide. All of our clinical services are performed in laboratories that are accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

We perform millions of tests per year for patients at more than 75 inpatient and outpatient clinical service locations within the Loyola Medicine system and the surrounding communities.

Loyola Medicine provides hundreds of lab tests for all inpatient and outpatient clinical service locations on our medical center campus and the surrounding area. For the few tests that cannot be analyzed on-site, we send specimens out to the leading academic and private labs in the country.

Loyola Medicine offers two easy and secure services to help patients and referring physicians view lab results. With LoyolaConnect, physicians who refer patients to Loyola can directly access test results and other electronic health records in Epic.

Patients who have a myLoyola account can view their test results and also communicate with their doctor, schedule an appointment and ask for a prescription renewal.

Ongoing Research to Develop Advanced Diagnostic Tests

As nationally recognized experts in our subspecialty fields, each faculty member in our department is actively involved in research. We focus on translational, clinical and basic science research that aims to better understand the way diseases begin and progress, to improve diagnostic methods and to search for the next generations of disease treatments.

We publish on the local, national and international level, contributing more than 100 articles a year to peer-reviewed journals. We consistently rank in the top 100 institutions nationally in NIH funding. Most of our residents and clinical fellows are actively engaged in laboratory research as well.

Special areas of research interest include molecular pharmacology and therapeutics and microbiology and immunology as they apply to diagnosis and treatment of lymphoma, breast cancer, diseases of the skin, and thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.
